Grad at LARS Mexico Seminar
The Los Angeles Recording School hosted its first “De México a Hollywood” seminar at the Four Seasons Hotel in Mexico City on Saturday, February 27.
The informational seminar, which included a morning and an afternoon session, featured appearances by prominent Mexican LA Film School faculty and alumni.
During each session, attendees learned about careers in entertainment and became familiar with educational opportunities the school has to offer international students. In addition, they previewed graduate work and had an opportunity to ask questions about education and entertainment to a panel of industry professionals.
Mexican filmmaker Salvador Carrasco, who is also Course Director of the advanced directing program at The Los Angeles Film School, served as a panelist. Carrasco’s first feature, The Other Conquest, was the highest-grossing Mexican film ever at the time of its release.
A&R and Online Strategies executive of Warner Music Mexico Joaquin Fernandez, who is a graduate of The Los Angeles Recording School also appeared on the panel. Fernandez has worked with a number of successful Mexican artists, including El Tri, Ximena Sariñana, Motel, Maná and Café Tacvba.
“This was an amazing opportunity for prospective international students to get a better understanding of what it is like to study film, music and games in Hollywood, the world’s entertainment capital,” said Chief Executive Officer Diana Derycz-Kessler, who will also be on hand for the event. “Not only will they get familiar with what educational opportunities are out there, but they will also get insight from industry professionals about what it is like to work in México’s entertainment world. We look forward to doing it again.”
